2repliesIs 16-35 enough for Supertree Grove or do I need to go wider? The spot page recommends 14-24mm ultra-wide for Supertree Grove and all I have is a 16-35. Is 16mm actually going to fall short, or is that recommendation assuming you want the whole canopy in one frame? Also noticed it says tripods are banned weekends and public holidays, which is the only time I can go. Is that enforced or is it one of those signs everyone ignores?@bestlight1mo ago5repliesTripod that survives the Marina Barrage windThird time I have had a frame ruined up there by wind. Currently on a cheap aluminium travel tripod with a centre column and I know that is the problem. Not asking which brand is best, asking specifically: for a rooftop that windy, is it the legs, the head, or the centre column that matters most? Budget is real, I would rather fix the one thing that counts.@bestlight2mo ago3repliesIs a 70-200 worth carrying just for Old Hill Street? The spot page says 70-200mm flat-on for the rainbow windows and I can see why — you want the grid compressed and square with no perspective falling away. But that is a heavy lens to carry across town for one building. Can I get close enough with a 24-70 at the long end, or does that miss the point entirely?@bestlight2mo ago3repliesDo I actually need an ND here, or is that a temperate-country thing?Every tutorial I watch is someone in Iceland with a 10-stop. Singapore is two degrees off the equator, the sun goes down fast and hard, and I am not sure the same advice applies. Before I spend money — what do people here actually use an ND for?@bestlight2mo ago3repliesRain gear — this matters four months of the year and nobody talks about itHalf the good skies here arrive attached to a thunderstorm. I have lost one body to water already and I would rather other people did not. What is actually working for you? Not looking for brand recommendations, more interested in what people do in practice when it opens up mid-shoot.@bestlight2mo ago
