The walk-in point is a good call. I did the same thing at Coney Island — stopped shooting the obvious thing and started shooting the approach, and the approach was better. How bad are the mosquitoes on that boardwalk before 8?

The bridge itself is one-way and it opens at 9am, which sounds fine until you realise the walk in takes well over an hour from the carpark. So the earliest you are actually on the bridge is around 10:15, and by then the light is already hard and overhead. I have stopped shooting the bridge and started shooting the walk in. The boardwalk sections catch low side-light before 8am and there is nobody there.

Bad. Long sleeves, and do not stop moving for more than about a minute unless you have sprayed. It is the one real cost of going early.
