How do I read the "How busy" graph on the spot pages?

@bestlight · 2mo ago

There is a bar chart on the spot pages now with one bar highlighted in gold. I think the gold one is the best light time but I am not certain, and I do not know whether the percentages mean the place is full or just busier than usual.

Gold bar is the hour the light is worth shooting at that spot, and the percentage under it is how busy it usually is at that hour. So it is answering "will there be a crowd when I actually want to be there", which is the question that matters. The percentages are relative to that place's own busiest hour, not an absolute count. 50% at Merlion Park is a lot more people than 50% at Lorong Halus.

The line underneath is the useful one — it tells you which day of the week is quieter at that same hour. Fort Canning at 8am is a completely different experience Tuesday versus Sunday and the graph will show you that before you waste the trip.

Relative rather than absolute was the bit I had wrong. That explains why Bedok Jetty looked busier than Merlion Park, which made no sense to me.
