The gate timing catches everyone. I did exactly this and ended up shooting sunrise from outside the fence, which was honestly not bad but not what I planned.

Worth knowing before you plan a sunrise there: the gates open at 7am and sunrise is around 7:05. So you cannot actually shoot sunrise inside the park. Everyone finds this out on the morning. What does work is going in at opening and shooting the first hour of light instead. Area C has the bleached driftwood on the beach and it is by some distance the best foreground on the island. About twenty-five minutes' walk in from the west gate.

Is the walk in manageable with a tripod and a bag? Twenty-five minutes sounds fine on paper but I keep underestimating these.
Flat the whole way and properly surfaced. It is the heat rather than the terrain. Go at opening and you miss the worst of it.
